Town Fair DEFINITELY wrecked my rims but won't admit... Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Tue, 6 Jan 2009 08:56:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
AAAHH!!!! I just got back from Town Fair Tire. It's like talking to a brick wall with these people. So I go went in, talked to the manager who happened to be the guy who sold me the tires. He looked at the rims scratched his head, baffled. He had absolutely NO idea (and I believed him, honestly) how this could have happened on his machines. He was also sympathetic because he had no idea how I could have made those marks either. "Well they showed up right after getting tires from you..." So he gives me the number for a guy who does mobile rim repair, as in he'd come repair them in the parking lot where I work. Yeah that'll look awesome. NOT. Anyway, he wants $125 per rim. The manager said he'd pay half, $250. That is not good enough for me, so I request to have them take off one of my wheels and go through the procedure for me. They were glad to do it. But now he's telling me it happened when I went to the carwash, and he is getting really huffy with me (and my father, I brought him for reinforcement). I KNOW (but I can't prove it) that my car hasn't TOUCHED a carwash since I bought it.
Then they get the wheel on the machine and BINGO!!! THERE'S WHAT DID IT!!! He is still DENYING IT THOUGH!!!! Look at the pictures below. Unfortunately they are with my iPhone, so they aren't the greatest. Anyway, the rim sits horizontally, face up on this dismounting/mounting machine. There's a vertical bar from above that comes down with a plastic "duck-head" (?) on it that squeezes between the tire and rim. The little piece the arrows are pointing to was DIRECTLY over the scrape marks, about .25" above. Then there's a foot pedal below that spins the tire. The plastic thing there even has scrape marks on it with shavings hanging off from coming into contact with rims!!! He left the room when it started to get a little heated telling me to call when I make a decision to take the $250, and that he's the "good guy" offering to pay half for something he knows he didn't do!?
What do I do!!??? Lawyer? Small claims? Call corporate? Write to corporate? I am a VERY non-confrontational personal and had all I could do standing there arguing with the guy.
