The 4x4x10 has only been used with common low cost 2.5 and 3 ton standard floor jacks.
In the first scenario, with the jack raised, the 4x4 is placed horizontally across the jack front frame rails, just behind and resting against the jack wheels. This prevents the jack from coming down all the way, since the lift pad arms can only lower until they contact the top side of the 4x4. In this position the 4x4 is trapped between the jack frame rails. lift pad arms and the jack front wheels. This will not work with jacks that have one wheel or roller in the front, and most likely any low profile or small jack with small front wheels.
In the second position, the 4x4 is placed vertically on the floor under the raised jack pad, just behind the front wheel axle and between the jack front frame rails. In this position, the lift pad pivot pin contacts the top or end of the 4x4, blocking the lowering of the jack. Note; all the weight on the jack pad can be resting on the ends of the 4x4. As a result placing the 4x4 on end should only be done on level concrete surface.
