The only comment I'd make is with the first point in your list. It may be correct some of the time while power is being applied to the wheels, depending on the specific cars + tires. It is not correct for braking (except possibly in pathological tire comparisons), arguably the more important element of winter performance, as the AWD does not play a role...
I have observed this first hand: years ago, I got to drive a brand new top of the line Subaru Outback through a blizzard in the rockies with very knobbie M+S, probably all seasons (if they were snows, they weren't good ones) + going forward was comparable or a little better than our fwd Saab with hakkas (partly clearance), braking was no where near as good. Most of the driving was pretty slow though due to poor visibility!
