By levelling, I mean jacking up spots to make it level, rather that razing it to the ground. I bought a house built in 1889. The foundation is stone, and seems pretty sound but there is a slope to the house of about 1% grade (a 4m room slopes about 4cm). I want to try to at least partially correct this. Not looking to make it perfect, but enough that it's not obvious, so maybe reduce by half. My specific question: is a 12 ton jack sufficient to raise parts of the house incrementally? It's a two story house, wood frame with brick exterior. More generally, any tips on doing this? Obviously I will raise incrementally by a very small amount at a time.
