And occasionally, a rechargeable battery will overheat and catch fire.
The Volt is overpriced and far from perfect, but the concept is a good one. And in all likelihood it's the first of a legion of cars that run on electric motors with a generator engine as a back up.
When the first gas engined cars came out they also had a lot of critics.
John, would you feel differently if GM had kept Saab alive and made it the platform for their electric vehicles and the Volt was a version of the 9-5?
