your point reminds me Edison trolling Tesla in the current war of those ancient ages (DC by Edison vs AC by Tesla). Nicolas got the contract with US penetration system and electric chairs where driven by Tesla's AC current. Edison trolled public opinion that Tesla's AC wasn't safe: it was killing people on the electric chairs!
Btw, I don't see Edison's General Electric to differ much from General Motors. I don't like Edison (as a person; as for his inventions - he bought or misappropriate most of the invention that public now claims to be invented by him - but I don't say he didn't invent anything at all) and thus I don't buy GE products. Never ever.
As for the original link: it doesn't say that injured people were forced (e.g. at gun point) to do that. Maybe they just failed since were bad at elementary physics? Or maybe not.
