I have a great saab indy, so I'm happy owning 3 saabs. Anything I can't do, he can + it never seems to break the bank. Our 3 cars cost very little to own nowadays... I have a friend who comes from a long - time VW/audi family. They are finding the newer VW's are a little more problematic, but a couple years ago there were a couple Audi's in the family. His parents have a great Audi indy + so it still makes sense for them to drive Audis. The repair bills are not unreasonable. But for my friend, his local Audi tech was a bit of a rip-off... when his A4 reached a major service point, he traded it for a BMW because there is a great local BMW tech (who he had used previously for a very old BMW)... my point: a tech you can trust + who won't rip you off is key to ownership of these brands... maybe more than anything else... of course, if one is taking the car to the dealer all the time, one is asking to pay a lot...
