GM is basically screwing over Opel just as they did SAAB. Look, Opel has put in the engineering dollars for tons of what we see in GM cars now, and doesn't that sound familiar? At the same time GM is marketing Chevrolet, basically underminding Opel in Europe. Opel products have always been a bit bland compared to most European offerings (again, the GM factor), but their current cars are pretty good and I think fair to say on par with VW.
GM can not touch a brand without eventually killing it, it is truly impressive. If Opel dies, and considering Vauxhall and Holden are merely local nameplates, that will leave GM with Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GM. There ain't much left to kill dear old General! lol It will be a big mistake on GM's part, because anything that you see good in GM cars is technology spirited away from SAAB or being currently developed by Opel.
I'd like to support GM as an American company, but as a car enthusiast, this company should be wiped out once and for all... buy Ford and Chrysler (even if foreign owned).
