Howdy.
For those of you that know me, you know my SPG. I love that car... However, I'm facing a financial delimma. It appears that the car needs a new engine and thanks to my friend Talladega900's genorousity, I am going to buy his engine for a modest price. Removal and installation of the engine is about $900. If I'm going to go forward with this, I should replace the turbo too (200K miles on the original).
FWIW, I don't have the time or the inclination to do the install myself and I trust the guys at Viking to do the job well.
Nonetheless, my estimated price is in the ball park of $2500 on a car that already has WAY too much money in it. I've had this struggle many times and each time I end up deciding to keep the SPG.
This one is tough though. Realistically I can't get anything for the SPG w/out putting the engine in it and if I'm going to do that, why not just do it and keep driving the car. On the other hand, for less than $15K, I can get a Viggen w/ a fraction of the miles as are on my SPG.
So, my question to you (post anonymously if you need to), how much $ do you have in mods/repairs/upgrades to your car?
Talladaga900 has been very helpful in assessing this situation and helping me justify the costs, but there's still that lingering apprehension about dropping another $2500 into it.
Thanks,
M
