Do any of you set your mirrors using the CarTalk method? I.e. you don't see the rear of your car in the mirror but rather the lane next to you. The point is that the rear of your car doesn't move...so why are you watching it?
Follow the link to see how to set it. They have a graphic that helps illustrate this as well. I admit it takes some getting used to, but after a week or so you'll feel blind without this setting. The only trouble I have with it is when parallel parking, but that is easy to fix.
I'm not saying this replaces the mandatory side glance, but certainly helps.
