We can guess all day long but if you want to find out, you have to find the two pin connector for pump and check so that it has power but pump not running.
You might be able to hear the pump start after the engine is started cold and that would cut down on the fault tracing but you need to know what the pump sounds like and if it is already dead, you won't know the sound.
When you have disconnected the harness you can feed power and ground straight to the motor and if does not run, it needs to be replaced.
For me it is a lot easier since I only hook up my Tech 2 scanner and give the ON command to make the pump run, if it doesn't, it is most likely the pump.
It is not an easy job to replace and without having the car up in the air working from under, quite more difficult.
The starter has to be removed and the two plastic pipes attached to the pump can be a bear to remove since the lock function needs to be squeezed together while at the same time wiggle and pull the pipe off the pump. You can train on the air filter connector and SAI back flow valve connector to see what I mean.
