Why do you think the coolant leak is coming right through the cylinder walls?
It is many other places where the coolant jacket are in close proximity to the crank case oiling areas, pretty much throughout the whole engine.
If you have looked at the B207 engine block up close you will see that it looks like the aluminum block is made up of millions of tiny balls sintered together. I don't know if it is just the surface that takes that look from the melting process or what.
But when I started to hear about porous engine blocks and seeing the surface I thought, no s$%t. If the cross section of the block looks like the surface, no wonder that you get fissures going right through here and there.
