Update:
I bought another RDCM with a part number for 9-3s with eLSD and I get the same weird whirring noise and no comm/incompatible software with RDCM.
I popped my original Haldex module back in and there's no whirr and no service XWD message but since it's off a differential without eLSD, I'm not sure it would drive correctly?
I'm about ready to give up on the project but I'll give a list of information/things I've done:
I spoke to Walter Wong, he said what I am trying to do is absolutely possible but he couldn't narrow down exactly what was causing the no comm issue.
I spoke to John at 2 guys from Sweden, he told me it's possibly the ABS module but I have found that the same part number is used between eLSD and non eLSD cars.
I re-ADDED TCS/ESP+ to the car's bus via the Tech 2, from there I was able to specify Basic/Police version, the engine type, transmission type, and if the car is eLSD equipped, from there, there's a list of options, Linear, Arc, Vector, Aero, 9-3x, TurboX. I flashed the ECM of the car using a stock 9-3x BIN file and a 2010 9-3 Aero XWD BIN file. Both of these cars would have come with eLSD out of the factory. So I selected both 9-3x and Aero with their respective ECM flash, no luck there.
I have seen forums in Swedish where people have swapped the drivetrain over to the pre-facelift style so surely this is possible but I can't find anything on just swapping it and making it all work. I've tried the people at SaabCentral, TrionicTuning, SaabScene, various Saab Facebook groups, and tried getting a hold of someone at MapTun since they swapped this into an older body and made a track car. No one had any insight or I did not get a response.
I may finish up the bodywork on the car and see about running it with the eLSD and the original Haldex module and see how it goes but that would mean buying a very expensive driveshaft...which I was willing to do if this worked.
So is this possible?....maybe but I don't know how.
