It is possible, but not easy, to replace the the battery wiht the clamp in place. IIRC, you need two one set of nimble fingers holding the clamp rotated up to clear the lower battery case lip, while simultaneously you lower the battery into position. Assuming the new battery is exactly equivalent in size to the oEM SAAB battery form decades ago.
Easier and quicker, and with no chance of pinched/smashed fingers between clamp and battery case, by removing the bolt and clamp bar entirely.
