2003 9-3 Arc 6 speed here. Bought new in '03, only 37,000 miles. I have replaced the battery a few times due to not driving the car as often after the first X number of years (hence the low mileage). The last time the battery charge became low I pulled it and kept it hooked up in my garage on a Battery Tender for a few weeks. On a somewhat mild day I reinstalled it in the car, and my word is that battery hold down clamp a bugger to get in place. I don't remember having such trouble in prior years, and I have done quite a bit of automotive work over the years, since the late 1970's. It seems like it should slide forward a little bit more and then it would clear the lower lip on the battery case. I remember a number of years ago I managed to loosen the clamp screw enough that it came out. It was "fun" getting the screw back in but it ended up working fine then. Right now the battery is sitting up just a few millimeters since I can't get the hold down clamp over the lower lip of the battery. Once I get this straightened out I can put the plastic cover back on the battery compartment. Starting the car now every four days and letting it get up to temp, and the battery is holding up fine. Love these cars and it's quite a shame the division was shut down. Had a new '95 900S previously.
