DI cassette and idler pulley one two punch seem like childs play. After seeing that the JD Power data backs up the anecdotal (negative) impressions I got from three people I know that have VWs I am so glad that I have a Saab.
My other friend has an Audi A^ with the big V8 crammed in there (VW likes doing that) - it cost him $1500 just to change the thermost, at 55k miles no less.
