I don't care what the product is, when you use a product such as a car, the use has a value and use depreciates items like cars. I don't care if Saab made the car for $2000 and sold it for 20 times that. The cost and sales price are irrelevant. The market value at the beginning and at the end is what is relevant.

If Saab wants to let someone use their product for free, when Saab buys it back, that is Saab's right if Saab wants the good will. If Saab wants to charge for the use, when Saab buys it back, Saab has that right as well, unless lemon laws prevent it. You can't tell me that getting to drive a vehicle for 10,000 miles is worth nothing. That is why I believe Saab is within it's right to charge a reasonable amount for the use of the vehicle, even when the purchaser is not happy with it, when Saab buys it back, unless a lemon law prevents it from doing so.

When my car was being repaired after a wreck, I didn't expect Enterprise to let me use a rental car for free even though I didn't much like the car I rented. The same legal principal applies no matter who is using the car. The person in possession of the car is using up the value of the car. The owner or the purchaser who is required or elects to buy it back should be able to charge for this use. Some lemon laws say otherwise because of the trend to caveat vendor.

In the days of caveat emptor the user had to pay for its use. Depending on where you live, you may be living in the days of caveat emptor or caveat vendor which is why I said he needs to see a local attorney.
