Since GM owns Saab all accountability is ultimately GMs. As I understand it (from a chat at the Aero Academy) the weak dollar and inability of SaabUSA to sell Saabs at or close to sticker has forced Saab Sweden to cut features out of the cars so that Saab loses less money. I think GM has done a poor job managing Saab from a US perspective and probably from a Global perspective. GM has been involved with Saab for a long time and could have more strongly influenced design a long time ago. Saab lost money on cars, GM looses money on Saabs and some of its other cars. I think the problem is poor management at both GM and Saab. Good engineering, poor management, simple as that. New Saab ownership would only help if it came with good management.
