'06 a head turner, should I feel guilty for liking it? Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Sat, 7 Jan 2006 14:27:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Underneath I'm an old Saaber (and on the outside too) and the the new 2006 9-5 hasn't stood pat, but instead has a fresh new look. My one guy who test drove one got some serious looks on the freeway.
Another time we had a new '06 and an old '02 side by side and the change is pretty dramatic. The new grill is mega bigger and boulder and the rear has all new, dare I see, pleasing contours and shapes. They were SportCombi/Wagons and no roof rails looks cool too. The standard 17" 7 1/2 inch rims have larger, more porthole friendly 235's (vs the old 7" rims and 225"s) and the rims are very good looking, don't you agree?
Inside the Black Tie radio is pretty sweet with AM, FM and XM presets intermixed, no changing bands. Also there's the indash 6 disc and MP3 adapter. Likewise the new ACC controls are more intuitive. No similar buttons to study to figure out what does what, like turn down the fan, just grab the knob and the scale lights up, quality feel to both radio and ACC stuff also.
260hp doesn't hurt, sport ventilated seats optional without the sport suspension, but still standard with 17's, great nav if you desire.
Being that old Saaber I feel a little guilty for liking it.
