Financially, it makes sense where the cost per mile Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Wed, 31 May 2006 18:52:00 In Reply to: At what point does it no longer pay to repair?, AlanB [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 31 May 2006 06:01:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Of your current car would be more than the cost per mile of a new car. For example, my '95 9000 curently has costed me around 78 cents per mile (not including gasm but mileage would be similar for a 9-5 anyways). I figured that if I had purchased a new 9-5 in 2002 (when I got the 9k), it would be costing be around 90 cents per mile based on when I have driven.
However, even if it were costing me more per mile for the 9000, I still wouldn't get rid of it. I've put too much work into it with mods and audio work and I just love the way it drives and handles. .I'm never going to get rid of it, but it may become my second car after I graduate and get a "real" job. So you need to keep the "emotional" aspect of the car in mind as well.
