Still have not heard from original owner, but not holding my breath. All available service records indicate the car missed the 10k oil change. Low miles (32K in 4 yrs) could indicate a lot of short trip driving in hot FL weather. But why you would lease an Aero wagon w/ manual tranny for this type of driving is beyond me, especially in FL without vented seats.

Right now, my wife an I are strongly considering moving the car from Flow Saab in Greensboro to Swedish Imports in Durham.

The engine did not seize, but it was *noisy* after the oil pressure light came on, notably from the top of the engine. If any work is to be done on it, I'd prefer the most experienced hands on my engine. Swedish Imports has the expertise, is way closer to my home, is an authorized Saab service centre, and has lower labour rates than Flow Saab.

Swedish Imports just did the 30K service on my '02 9-3SE 5dr, and it came in UNDER the quoted charge. This on top of an unexpected time limitation I put on them (my fault for not telling them when I made the appointment). I see no downside to moving it there, other than paying an additional 2hrs x $90/hr labour charge from Flow to open the engine, plus 57 more miles of towing charges.

Without evidence that the car was serviced at 10K, Saab will not cover repairs. Even if I do find the mystery 10K oil change, they may still decline coverage. If all this does happen to fall together, I will still need the repairs to be executed at a Saab authorized centre, so that means Flow Saab or Swedish Imports - no used engines would be covered.

That's it so far. More after the 4th.

Thanks for all the advice and comments - JMJ
