Owners of newer vehicles will be glad to learn this... I am curious about the siren module installed in the 2002 thru 2003 cars. I wonder if Saab realized their foolishness of soldering two batteries (with a relatively short life when compared to vehicle life) onto a circuit board, placing it in an expensive sealed module, and burying it a wheel-well of the car!
Do the newer sealed modules omit the Lithium-Ion batteries and rely completely upon the vehicle battery? This would seem to make more sense.
I also wonder if there is a software upgrade available (or soon to be released) which would allow earlier cars to be "de-contented" to use the car horns instead of the siren module. This might require a new jumper harness of some sort but also appears to be a reasonable alternative.
