Perhaps it isn't the best way to have to own a car, but I think I'm going to have to stock certain parts at home. It seems to be the only way to avoid the sticker shock of a "gold plated" cat converter, for instance. I was lucky the other day that when my Saab 9 5 wagon died that I did not need a new cat converter. Getting one off eBay, as long as it's the right one will definitely bring the cost down and I won't have to wait for shipment when and if it happens.
It is an awkward way to own a car though. But, if like the last post, it is a car you love to drive, perhaps that is the cost. I love my Saab and I think I do enough in life that I don't want to do than to jump in something every morning that I don't even want to put gas in. I love Sage as much as the day I got her and I didn't think I would. Saab? Wagon? No, no, not for me!!! Oh, yes for me.
Some say that the price is because things are difficult to get to for repair. Perhaps they have to pack everything in an inconvenient way to make the cockpit a pleasure to be in. I don't doubt they just want your money. I work for the company that sells the i_ _d, so I can see from the inside out, how much they want to nearly bop you over the head with a club for your dollar.
And I don't want to replace her anytime soon, as I'm not hearing good this and I see some quality issues, but when I do replace her, it will likely be with another Saab. Perhaps I'm a glutton for punishment, but I've been through cars I hated and some I loved. This one takes the cake. They thought about everything in the design. I may not have OnStar or a NavMap, but people survived without those before. So I'll stick with her for now.
