2003 9-5 LPT w/ 75K. I've had the car for 2 years and the key fob locked and unlocked the car fine. Never heard any "chirps" or other alarm sounds, although the parking lights flashed, etc. I just figured that was the way the prior owner had it programmed. Recently the "Service Theft Alarm" shows up on the SID. Mostly when the car is started from cold. Key works the same as always, except the range is now only while you are right next to the car. I replaced the key battery to no avail. Do I have replace the siren box batteries? Why is the range of my key so short? Why have I never heard a "chirp"? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
