I don't think that it's unrealistic to think that the car has to hold up to at least 50K miles, specially in the price range (FORDs do that for a fraction of the cost). Having to replace the items you mentioned is ridiculous, we are not talking pennies here...I hope that you were covered by warranties on those, because for the sound of it you could have gotten another 9-5 and just swap the parts...and yes, after replacing everything in the car you would expect it to run well.

I still believe that as owners we should have rights to get known defective parts repaired/replaced at no cost i.e. DIC, SID, plastic covers for the wheel bolts, etc.
