'00 Aero Vs. '04 Aero. Driving experience and changes?

Hello everyone,
I test drove a '04 9-5 Aero (manual, 38k miles) this week and although my test drive was short, these were my impressions, as compared to my '00 9-5 Aero (automatic, 80k miles)... perhaps someone can confirm this?
1. Less steering feel in the '04. This was a big disapointment. Maybe it was simply due to tires? Both on 17 inchers, mine on Toyo T1R, '04 on Pirelli Rossos
2. Not that much more power in the '04, which I found very surprising, given it was a manual, vs. my automatic, and with more torque and horsepower, with reduced weight, I expected more (it actually boosted just a little into the red, but the turbo spooled very quickly, with little buildup of power, none of that yanking on a rubber band feeling of older saabs, or even of that of my automatic '00 Aero.)
3. Less bouncy ride in the '04, nice, composed ride, vs. the '00 which has always felt jittery
4. Less body lean in '04, good grip
5. Great seats in the '04, obviously!
6. Can the fake aluminium dash in the '04 be swapped out and exchanged for the burled walnut in my '00? It seems they keep dropping the quality of fit and finish on cars these days - the tactile quality of the 9000 Aero I used to have seems to be long gone now...
Anyone here have both, and go between the two regularly? The steering feel was a concern to me particularly, but maybe someone can tell me I was just imagining things...
A 9-3 Aero might be nice for a change, but the earlier models aren't supposed to be very reliable, the interior feels cheap and to top things off, they are more expensive than same year 9-5s... Not really considering another brand though, it's like I have this saab disease, can't shake it! Had an Audi A4 2.8Q for a year, bored me to death. Ah well!
Thanks!
Rick
