I had a 99 9-5 non-Aero and now have an 04 Aero. I've also had 00 Viggen, 06 9-3 linear, and 900 SPG.
1. Between the 9-5's, the steering is definitely a little different. Not as much as between the 00 and 06 9-3 (different platforms) but I definitely notice the diference as well, and attribute it to GM influence. Maybe a different rack in the 04?
2. An Aero is an Aero. Same engine, same turbo. Not sure how much lighter the new ones are, but they are all pretty close on power, and more noticeably, torque.
3. Updated suspension from 02 on and your 00 is probably due for shocks if they have never been replaced.
4. Larger sway bars (at least rear, maybe front as well) 02 on.
5. Best seats as far as compromise between comfort and fit. Even better than Viggen IMHO.
6. Yes. Dash can be swapped. I agree the aluminum is heanious, why I searched for a car with carbon fiber interior trim.
