1 - Was the steering 'loose'? Mine was when I first got it, but after regreasing the column spline, it felt much 'tighter'. (Search for 'click' to see complaints). Also, tires do impact feel. My current tires are TOO stiff for me.
6 - Absolutely swappable. I just put an '01 wood dash in my 04 Aero just a month ago. Looks much nicer to me than the silver with a tan interior.
7* - You didn't mention the far better looking front end on the 04!
Can't answer any other questions for you. I'm suprised to hear about the seeming lack of power increase. One would think the butt dyno would be good for sensing 20HP. Oh well.
