Yes TG, I do agree the shims will also work for the Camber, although I don't think it will do anything more then put the Camber in spec and More importantly the shims will or at least should stop tire wear which is probably more important then just how the car looks! thats why I will put them in while I am deciding how to proceed in lifting my "rear"!!! Although the more I think on it by correcting the camber it might give some minor lift just do to the way the tires sit on the surface????
I am not sure if this Problem is really a design Flaw as Steve claims, my thought is it is a poor choice of spring suppliers. I highly doubht anything else is going on in the rear subframe etc... so I don't see a design flaw, but just a lousy spring that didn't hold up over time, their is "only" 100k on my car, my last 94 Aero had 145k and still had the stock suspension but that car had more "SAAB" content! and I know that car got BEAT!! I live on a back country road with lots of tight curves. I had a real hard time parting with that car because I knew this 9-5 is not what the old Saabs were. Any way again in this post I was hoping someone acctually swapped out their rear springs Only because their car sat too low!
I have seen many post's were Steve and TG seem to battle on cause, I will say thanks to both of you for your thoughts and opinions.
I will add this.... I don't mean to be harsh but Yes the cars seem to squat, although I have never heard of one continuing to drop farther and farther, my guess is it drops 1/2- 1 inch and stops!, if this doesn't bother you shim it and be done! if you want your car to sit level (the tops of my Rear tires are right at the wheel well) I preffer to see some daylight in thier, so I will probably be adding new springs. although I believe this to be the case I also would like proof! which is why I come here looking for answers. Again Sorry for the ranting in this post, it seems like this is a touchy subject.
so 2 questions...
1 for anyone who has added shims, did you gain any noticable lift?
2, for anyone who has added new springs just because your rear sat low, did it acctually raise and level the car and did it also correct the camber?
2 very simple questions!
