Of course normal maintenance is normal and expected. Do you think that any car should require springs, dampers, bushings, an axle subframe and possibly shims or other fixes at about 33K? What if it happened at a lower mileage? At what mileage should we add subframe replacement to the maintenance list?
As for the sag, this is not necessarily only effecting vehicles at 150K. My car was at about 33K and I bet the problems existed earlier, but were not as severe. I own another car that has all its original suspension and is used much more heavily than the 9-5 for hauling, towing, leaving things in the trunk, etc. and has more than double the mileage. There are no rear suspension, ride height, or tire wear issues. There may be some minor unloaded sag, but it is not visually noticeable like it is on a 9-5. If I fully loaded this car and fully loaded a 9-5 the excessive sag in the 9-5 would be clear. I’m astonished at some 9-5s I see driving around with passengers and luggage. They look like overloaded compact cars that needed a new suspension long ago.
Although the BB is rightfully pro Saab we shouldn't get blinded by that ideal. Saab should be held accountable just like every other company. It will only make Saab better in the end.
