Here's what I know.
The SAI pump has a purpose - but not enough of a purpose for me to spend $500 of my dollars to buy a new one with the check valves. Not even close.

It's drawing too much current because it is likely siezed up - and blowing the fuse. I could care less - but that fuse controls my cabin fan - which in Wisconsin...I DO care about.

So - how to get the computers to not care that the SAI is seized up?

I've got a variety of high amp ceramic resistors that I'm going to try. I'm going to put them inline between 12V+ and that fuse - and bleed the current off to ground as it approaches the maximum draw for the circuit. The only thing I'll end up with is 60 - 90 seconds of heat coming from the ceramic housing...at least in theory.
The resistor will control the draw and keep it from blowing the fuse. After 90 seconds, I should be able to turn on the cabin fan without problem.
The SAI pump will still be connected - it will still be receiving some current (though greatly reduced) so the car should think it's still there and hopefully not throw a code. I'm going to experiment to get the current down far enough that I don't melt wires in the fan - but high enough that the car still thinks the blower motor is running.

Any electrical experts out there that can comment on this plan?
There is just no way in h*!! that I'm going to spend $500 in this economy for a fix that has no effect on the performance of the car after the first 60 seconds of a completely cold start. Yikes! What a waste that would be.
