But why should Saab not be accountable as:
- The burden is on the manufacture to understand EPA requirements before undertaking a design
- It took Saab over 4 yrs to correct a known design deficiency when:
- it was likely known low friction design would result in more blow by
- the oil change intervals were increased to compete with other brands
According to Chuck Andrews testing the I4 auto at idle with the original PCV drew nothing or almost nothing at idle through the crankcase.
I would call it negligence or the very least a callous attitude towards customers - Saab didn't even offer to pay for the PCV retrofits.
Wonder what others think, but I can't see how the US government is at fault.
