"Moose Lights" (note the quotes...) are basically any pair of large, round, driving lights above the bumper on a car, especially in northern latitudes.
My preferred set was the Cibie Oscar Plus. Large, but slim, their beam pattern reached out to about 6500 feet, but they also had a very wide pattern in the first 1000-1500 feet, so that there was light to the sides. They had a clear lens, and an H2 bulb. I still have them someplace, mounted to the same bracket as my Cibie Series 195 fog lights.
Driving lights often are designed for straight ahead, some go out as much as 10,000 feet, but they need to be pointed practically straight at anything to see it. That's one of the reasons you see 4 to 6 on a rally car. They can use different beam patterns and/or aim them differently for best coverage.
And when buying driving lights, go for Hella, Cibie, Marchal. These people KNOW lighting...
Piaa, and anything "kc" need not apply...
