Miserable time Starting this morning. Long post. Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Tue, 26 May 2009 14:47:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I think it got down into the 40's this morning in CT and my 9-5 did not like this one bit when I went to start it. I held the key in the ST position for about seven seconds (count it out; it's a long freaking time) just cranking it before giving up. Gave it another 4 seconds of cranking and it began to stumble but not catch. I let go and gave it a few seconds to rest, and then it fired up after cranking a few more times. It's been cranking kind of slowly and I have noticed without the car running the cabin lights are very dim and the windows go up like the doors are filled with molasses. I replaced the battery last week from the Saab dealership.
Before I go in and complain that the battery is the problem (I had none of these problems before my last battery died suddenly) I'd like to clean the terminals. I had an interesting electrical incident as a child and am subsequently terrified of anything that makes a spark, haha. Besides not putting my tongue to both battery posts at the same time, are there any other battery safety tips or should I not worry at all? Also, what should I use to clean them up? Is there a special cleaner I can buy? The posts are not too cruddy IIRC. Thanks in advance!
