Batteries are terrible devices, they can last 3 years or 3 days or 3 months. The warranty just means that you can get a discount on a new one if you have the paper and it is still covered!
Here is how you check it out:
1. Get a voltmeter......eBay or autoparts store. They are not expensive.
2. Test the battery with the engine not running. you should have 12.00 volts to 12.5 or so. if you have under 11.5 you may have a battery problem.
3. start the car. You should read almost 14 volts with the car running. If it is 13 or less you have an alternator problem [if the battery reads ok in test 2]
4. get a battery load tester from Harbor Freight. I bought one for $12.00 recently. hook it up to the battery and read the voltage. Them flip the spring loaded switch and count 5 seconds or load. See what the new voltage is. The meter will tell you if your battery is tired.
WITHOUT THE ABOVE TEST .....well you know nothing of the condition of the battery and the charging system
