For the blower motor, I hear it's kind of a b*tch to replace. You have to remove the windshield wipers, and plastic cover below the windshield and I think the wiper transmission to get to it... but please correct me if I am mistaken. I'm not 100% sure it's a job I would take on as a DIY before I looked into it more.
For the cans of r134a, go for it man. I recharged my 2001 9-5 every spring using those things. I knew at least the shraeder valve where you plugged the can in leaked because it was like opening a soda bottle every time... Don't rely too heavily on the gauge, I got mine at WalMart and it's basically useless. I stuck a meat thermometer probe in my center vent and turned the A/C to LO and just stopped adding refrigerant when the temp stopped dropping. I got down to 44 deg F. Although that may not work with a tired blower motor... Have you replaced your cabin air filter lately? It's possible that thing is just so full of garbage it's not letting any air through. Good luck!
