Didn't say the features were better

The controls are simple and can be identified and operated by touch. Having rows and rows of identical size and shape buttons means you have to look at the buttons unless you've already memorized them (like a computer keyboard). Six big buttons for the radio settings, 3 for the cd/tape/fm, etc. Simple, easy to identify my touch/shape/location.
Now, I agree with you that the tape player is a real throwback and has no place in a modern car. The one real bonus is that it provides a great handle and finger-rest for removing the radio and hitting the aforementioned radio buttons, respectively. If you look at some military aircraft, they have horizontal handles under the banks of switches - this is to rest your other fingers on to steady your hand while you punch buttons. The cassette door is good for this, as is the soft lower dash edge on the NG900 and OG9-3.
To move on to all the other controls - the key & window buttons should be in the center console. Great use of shape/position for sightless use. Personally, I liked having the sunroof control and interior light controls there too (as in my 1997 900SE coupe). One area for everything for the right hand while the left hand is on the wheel.
Don't get me started on nav systems.
Just my opinion - JMJ
