Hi Larry,
If you have your sights on a linear, I would make sure it has the premium package which includes memory seats and mirrors, ESP, and the harmon kardon sound system. Base linears are pretty bare bones and not worth the money. Also, around my area (San Francisco bay area), the price difference between a linear and an arc is negligible. I would be surprised it would be different in your area. I currently have a 01 V6, and had a 2003 Aero for a week as a loaner. The power is great in the 2.3 Aero, but as Bmiller said, the engine is coarse, especially at idle. Fine in Aero form because the performance is a blast, but in linear form, I really would be unhappy with that engine choice. Make sure you take that 9-5 for an extended drive to see if you can live with it. Its really sad to hear your Arc was totalled. I always looked at your posts as they were very informative and unbiased. I wish you the best of luck in finding the right Saab!
Lawrence
