That's a tough decision. Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Tue, 28 Jul 2009 12:05:38 In Reply to: Re: '02 9-5 Transmisison Delay, KevinT, Tue, 28 Jul 2009 11:46:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
For a running 2002 9-5 Aero with 125k miles on it I would personally not pay more than $5k. By the time you fix the valve body you're going to be at at least $6k. BUT, you have peace of mind that the valve body is fresh. If you buy a different 2002 you could run into trouble with it down the road and have to spend $2500 on top of ~$5,000 for the car. This would put you $7500 in the hole for a seven year old, high-mileage car.
I sold my 2001 9-5 V6 in December with 184k miles on it. Once you get up into the 125-150k mile range I really don't think it has a huge impact on the value of the car, so let's just pretend my extra 60k miles are negligible. My car was in excellent condition. It looked like it had 20k miles on it, no joke. I had every invoice, receipt, and service record from day one, and it was in good to excellent running condition. I sold it for $3600, though I probably could've gotten $4k if I had the time to wait for a better offer.
I don't know, think about it. Maybe someone else will offer their words of wisdom.
