Two of my 9-5s ( both 99s have over 150K each. - not bought new)
I have been stranded only once with a failed IDM (ignition cassette).
My other lower mileage 9-5s, 2002, 2003 & 2006 owned from new with up to 50K each have never needed more than routine maintenance.
On my older cars, I do a decent amout of preventative maintenance that some people might leave & lead to a breakdown. Preventative maintenance on your schedule is a lot cheaper & more convenient than a breakdown repair.
At 150+ miles, I would have no concern jumping into my car tomorrow and driving across the country.
Saabs are very reliabe cars as long as you show them respect in the form of keeping them routinely maintained.
Any car can have early trtminal issues. I saw a Toyota camary with a dead engine at 30K due to lack of maintenance.
Bottom line - show some love to your Saab & it will reward you back
