If all you're missing is one or two, you're probably fine with swapping around. If more than that, however, you need to be buying more bulbs.
The bulbs are mounted in small black housings which bayonet out of the circuit board. The bulb can be removed from the housing, at least in earlier cars. The replacement bulbs today that you get from Saab I hear are soldered together, so you can't replace just the bulb (at least it is much more difficult). The bulb for the dash lights is a 2721, supposedly, a 6.3 volt bulb.
Note: there are three different bulbs, with different color housings on the MIU. One is grey, that's a 14v 2 watt bulb for the alternator (this one MUST not be replaced with anything else, or the charging system won't work), the other is blue, and illuminates the odometer, and is a different size than the others.
