I think it depends on: a) car use, and b) access to a mechanic you trust.
If you're using the car on longish trips and could end up stranded a long way from home, you might want something newer. If your mechanic isn't available a lot of the time, again, you might want to look elsewhere.
As others have said, a 2004 and later 9-5 might be a smart choice, if you decide to buy.
And I completely agree with the posters who said the 9-5 seats and general ergonomics are hard to beat at $10-15K.
The wild card, of course, is what Saab news will be in the next few months. The bad news is that it's possible buying a Saab could become a worse bet. The good news is that -- in the worst scenario -- there could be great opps for DIYers.
