Hi Herb,
Thanks again for taking the time to investigate my problem.
For the record, cruise control is another item which does not work when this problem is occuring. When I operate the main switch on the stalk to bring the system on the light on the dash does not illuminate and there is no cruise function. Is that powered by the +54net also?
The odd thing about the trick of messing with the ignition switch is that it only brings the functions back on whilst in park position. Messing with it with the car in D or R will not bring the functions back on line, although they have thus far always eventually returned after between 2 and 15 minutes of driving. Does that still sound like an iginiton switch failure?
When viewed in combination with my very occasional no-crank-when-hot problem (maybe 6-8 times in 24 months), it would appear the switch is quite suspect.
Will let you all know how I get on.
Cheers
Steve
