Disabling alarm due to dead batteries

So I've been getting the dreaded Service Theft Alarm message for the last couple of weeks (very intermittently). Been reading up on the fixes and deciding what to do, unfortunately tonight my alarm decided to start going off (at 10pm, gee thanks). The car's 8 years old, and I'm more than frustrated with all the electrical bugaboos, so I just want the cheapest way to, at the very least, make sure I don't get all kinds of random alarms going off at all hours of the night. Ideally the "service theft alarm" message would also go away.
Can someone help me understand what specifically I need to ask someone at a Saab service place (I know a few, I'm sure they have the TECH-II device) to do? What do they need to do to disable the entire siren unit and clear the service theft alarm message?
As long as I can use my key fob to open/close doors I'm cool - don't even care if there's any chirping or the alarm system works anymore, frankly. Just want this problem to permanently go away as "cheaply" as possible.
Thanks.
