Just leave the alarm box there and unplug the connector. The last time I disconnected it I didn't take off the wheel or pull out the fender liner completely. I just undid it enough to get to the connector to disconnect it.
I replaced the batteries in my 9-5's alarm, but it didn't last too long. It started going off at random times.
It doesn't make the chirp sound now, but I'm not worried about that.
It will be like that until I get the time to get some new batteries, and I have the 3 capacitors to replace on the board as well to try it again.
