I generally like CR but less so for items I actually know a little something about. Their reviews of cars drive me batty for many reasons.

I think the problem with the CR car reliability data, esp. as models age, is twofold:

1) It's self-reported, and only by subscribers, w/o any check for accuracy.

2) I don't believe the survey which gathers the data probes owner maintenance (CR loyalists, correct me if I am wrong). Owners who do poor maintenance will of course have cars that age with problems that need repair.
