a long crappy story to tell.

So I decided with my new 2001 aero that as the head was already off the engine (bad lifter PO says) that I would just rebuild the thing as I know bad lifters at 75000 miles means bad oil flow/sludge. No biggie. I don't have a lift and the car is an auto so I decide, following suggestions and photo evidence, to remove the engine from the top. I disconnect this, I disconnect that. Finally, all is ready to go. The engine and tranny start to separate and then I realize the torque converter wants to leave the tranny as well. There is a good half inch gap between the "flywheel" and the converter but the middle pin will not budge. I tried everything. After hours and hours of cussing, spitting, thinking I'd drop the whole thing out the bottom anyway, realizing a bit too late that the inner CVs are nothing like all the other saabs I've worked on in my saab infested life and finally decide that I'll just rebuild it with the engine in the car. This has been one of the stupidest projects I've ever done.
Anyone else ever had the converter seize itself to the engine?
