Back from visit to the GSP9700 ( highway vibration )

I am continuing my quest to get to the bottom of a very bad vibration at highway speeds coupled with steering wheel pulsation that goes from bad to worse and then back to bad. Slight brake pedal vibrations as well.
I just got back from the shop, my wheels were on so tight that the air wrench was useless and the mechanic had to do lug by lug manually; with a breaker bar and a 24" wrench. He also broke that wrench trying to get one of the front wheels off (!!!). I was standing right there, the swivel head just snapped in half. When he got the wheels off I kept the party going by tipping him right then and there. :) and off we went to the Hunter GSP9700. We discovered nothing to write home about... .25 here .50 there but mostly balanced correctly by the last place. He put the wheel back on and then checked for bearing play. As it turns out there there is perceptible play in both rear wheels when you grab them and rock up and down (12 and 6'o clock hand positions)...
Now, I have a box in my trunk from eeuroparts with new rotors, pads and caliper springs. Do you guys think the vibration could be badly warped rotors in back and maybe front (even though those were replaced 10K ago)?
If I decide to do the bearings in the rear (they are original and have 140K miles on them) then I should have them done at the same time as pads/rotors to save on labor. However, there is a chance this is related to badly worn rotors and pads and I could skip the bearings for now.
If I hear no noise or grinding from the bearings or anything of that sort
BUT there is play, is it advisable to change them immediately?
Thanks for listening! The entire $#^*& car is vibrating at highway speeds and I do 88 miles a day.
