Before you spend any money, you really should find a way to read the ABS codes. If you get a code for a wheel sensor then that is the direction to go. If there are no ABS codes in that modules memory, then the ABS module likely needs a rebuild. When they go dark they don't store a code. I think the LF is the primary sensor used for road speed on a 99 9-5. The reason I mentioned the ECM recall is that I actually had one about a year ago that had survived all this time. When it finally failed I was able to replace it no charge because safety recalls never expire.
