I bought these tires last December because I knew we would be driving to DC at Christmas taking the route thru southern Pennsylvania. We arrived in DC a few days after their first 24-inch snowfall. Roads were mostly clear in town but daytime snow melt would freeze every night.
We had no problem with traction on the snowy PA Turnpike or icy DC city streets. These were new tires, which always seems to help, but I have no complaints with the Quatrac 3s after one year of use.
I opted for these over the Nokians due to price. The Manager at the tire store told me he didn't yet have an opinon regarding WR versus Quatrac 3 when he wrote up the order. As I was about to leave the garage after installation of the Vredensteins the guys in the service bays offered me their observations and opinion.
The one caveat I want to provide is that my wife only drives 6K to 8K miles per year. After one year of use these tires are still pretty fresh and I don't yet know how they will perform after 20K or more miles.
